Futurebuild 2026: 4 major themes shaping retrofit delivery under the Warm Homes Plan

Futurebuild’s National Retrofit Conference brought together the UK’s leading policymakers, delivery partners and industry voices to shape the future of the UK’s Warm Homes agenda.

From panel discussions, and through hearing from stakeholders across the retrofit supply chain, Myson says they can better understand where the market is heading - and what that means for housing providers, installers and solution providers alike.

1. Devolution & partnerships will drive ‘retrofit at scale’

One of the biggest talking points throughout the conference was devolution and the role of local authorities in delivering Warm Homes funding.

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) is increasingly looking to Mayoral Combined Authorities and regional partnerships to help connect national policy with local housing needs, supply chains and delivery capabilities.

This creates opportunities for organisations that can support local delivery models through collaboration, technical expertise and long-term partnerships.

It also reinforces the importance of understanding regional requirements and working closely with contractors, housing providers and local stakeholders throughout the delivery process.

2. Quality assurance and compliance remain central to discussions

All of the panel discussions reinforced the need for quality assurance and accountability.

Specifically, PAS 2035, the overarching British Standard and specification framework for retrofitting domestic buildings to improve energy efficiency, was referenced repeatedly throughout the day.

For installers and contractors, there is still some caution in the market following previous schemes such as ECO4 and the Green Homes Grant. Discussions often centred around reducing complexity, improving consistency and ensuring projects can demonstrate clear compliance pathways.

As a result, many purchasing organisations are now placing greater value on supply-chain partners that can provide technical guidance, ongoing support and confidence throughout project delivery.

For solution providers like Myson, this means product performance is only one part of their conversation with installers and specifiers. Support around specification, compliance, installation and long-term performance will continue to be a priority.

3. Retrofit projects are being assessed on long-term outcomes

There is a sharper focus on ‘measurable resident outcomes’.

Housing providers and specifiers are under increasing pressure to evidence the long-term value created through retrofit programmes. This includes energy efficiency improvements, but also wider factors such as resident comfort, indoor air quality, wellbeing and overall building performance.

Within the HVAC sector in particular, there is growing recognition of the role heating and cooling systems play in how end users experience their homes day-to-day.

As a leading British manufacturer and provider of sustainable indoor heating and cooling systems, Myson will continue to support projects with real-world performance data, case studies and evidence of long-term outcomes alongside technical specifications.

4. Collaboration will play a major role in successful delivery

The clearest message from Futurebuild was the role of collaboration across the retrofit supply chain.

Delivering Warm Homes funded projects at scale requires coordination between policymakers, local authorities, housing providers, contractors, installers and manufacturers. As programmes develop, strong partnerships and shared accountability will become increasingly important.

We see this ‘call to arms’ from the industry as an opportunity to support the sector beyond product supply alone. As a total solutions provider, we will continue to focus resources to help customers navigate compliance requirements, delivery challenges and long-term performance expectations with greater confidence.
