One of the standout sustainability features of the Zip HydroTap is its 100% water-efficient cooling system. The HydroTap’s advanced air-cooling technology ensures no water is used to deliver perfectly chilled water every time.
Through an air-cooled system, the air in the environment is used to remove heat that has been generated as part of the refrigeration process to create chilled water. Fans are used to push air through the condenser and over the compressor to remove heat and to increase efficiency of the chilling process.
Beyond water conservation, the HydroTap excels in energy efficiency. The new front fascia and integrated airflow vent design in the under-bench command centre of the Zip HydroTap promotes improved energy efficiency, allowing air to be expelled out of the cupboard more quickly and efficiently.
Consequently, at high usage periods, the HydroTap continues to deliver consistent chilled water while optimising energy efficiency by up to 24%. In standby mode, the HydroTap is 10% more energy efficient while ensuring consistent chilled temperatures on demand.
The Zip HydroTap also now uses R290 refrigerant gas - a natural, environmentally friendly gas with a very low Global Warming Potential (GWP). By switching from older refrigerants to R290, the HydroTap achieves a remarkable 95% reduction in GWP.
The HydroTap’s intelligent under-bench command centre integrates all its technology into a sleek, compact form. This streamlined design means workplaces no longer need multiple appliances, such as kettles, water filters, and sparkling water machines, to meet their hydration needs. It enables access to boiling, chilled or sparkling water instantly in one thoughtfully designed system. The result is a more minimalist, sustainable kitchen with fewer appliances to purchase, power, and eventually dispose of.
The HydroTap’s under-bench command centre has been engineered to include smart energy-saving features like ON/OFF timers and sensor activated ‘sleep when it’s dark’ to help conserve energy during periods of low or non-usage.
It also incorporates Zip Water’s patented PowerPulse™ technology allowing energy savings while maintaining perfectly boiling water each time. PowerPulse™ technology is the most efficient way of heating and maintaining set boiling water temperature.
Unlike other heating systems, PowerPulse™ delivers a precise amount of energy to the heating element to ensure it does not over or under shoot the target boiling water temperature. Once the set boiling temperature is reached, it then manages energy using small pulses to ensure the target temperature is precisely maintained.
One of the most tangible benefits of the HydroTap is its potential to reduce single-use plastic bottle consumption. With filtered chilled or sparkling water available at the touch of a button, there’s no longer a need to buy bottled water at the supermarket.
Using the HydroTap Impact Calculator located on the Zip Water website, a commercial HydroTap with boiling, chilled and sparkling water for up to 20 people will save 36,515 500ml single-use plastic bottles over the course of 7 years.
The Zip HydroTap not only hydrates to each user’s preference - whether it’s a chilled glass of water, or a refreshing sparkling drink - but ensures workplaces are protected from potentially harmful contaminants in their drinking water. Fitted with the Zip MicroPurity 8-in-1 filter, operating at precision of 0.2 microns, it removes 99.4% of PFAS*. Beyond PFAS, Zip filters are also independently certified to:
Zip MicroPurity 0.2-micron filters are certified to NSF and ANSI standards, ensuring superior filtration. By maintaining regular filter changes every 6 months, workplaces can keep their Zip HydroTap performing at its peak, ensuring continuous access to clean, safe, and great-tasting water.
* Zip MicroPurity filters sizes 1 and 1.5 (93701 & 93702) are certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 53 to reduce 99.4% of Total PFAS (average reduction).
The Zip HydroTap stands as a benchmark in sustainable workplace hydration solutions, combining cutting-edge technology with environmental responsibility. As workplaces strive to meet growing sustainability goals, the HydroTap not only enhances wellbeing but also helps create greener, smarter, and more efficient, environments - truly setting a new standard for how we drink at work.
